APPLESAUCE CAKE

1 ½ c. applesauce
½ t. cloves
1 c. sugar
2 c. flour
1 egg
1 ½ t. vanilla
½ c. melted shortening
1 c. raisins
1 t. soda
1 ½ t. cinnamon
1 c. chopped pitted dates
1 c. chopped nuts (optional)

Mix shortening and sugar together; add egg and mix thoroughly. Then mix all dry ingredients together. Mix well Bake in tube pan 350 degrees 1 hour.
